One month after WHO announced COVID-19 a pandemic, as lockdown measures tightened up across the world, businesses and individuals are struggling to cope with the new reality. The global economy is swiftly moving towards deep recession, with monumental contractions in GDP from China to the US, European economies bracing for the sharpest drop since WWII and extremely dire situation in developing countries.

As Lockdown measures endure, The reduction in labor supply and consumption will force more businesses to lay off workers or go bankrupt ramping up unemployment rates and shrinking the economy furthermore. The crisis reportedly could push half a billion people into poverty.

Massive stimulus packages thrown in by governments appear to be more of an expensive painkiller than cure. As time goes by, it becomes more apparent that the only valid exit strategy from the crisis is a controlled and gradual restart of the economy.
